Robust Debate about Secularisation and Church Growth

Professor Steve Bruce, one of the foremost proponents of the secularisation thesis, has engaged in a robust debate about church growth with David Goodhew from Cranmer Hall, Durham in the latest number of the Journal of Religion in Europe. Goodhew counters this view, by arguing that emphasis on decline needs to be balanced by recognition of church growth, especially in London, amongst black, Asian and minority ethnic communities and amongst new churches.
